PRESS RELEASE
THE COMPASSIONATE HEALTHCARE NETWORK CHN
REGARDING THE STARVATION DEATH OF TERRI MARIE SCHIAVO
The Compassionate Healthcare Network CHN took a
stand with countless Schindler and Terri Schiavo supporters fighting to have her
feeding tube installed. This is the worst gross miscarriage of so-called
justice in the history of the United States of America. Founder and President
of CHN Cheryl Eckstein said, "Only one thing Terri needed aside
from food and water, and that was mercy. " No where in any court of the
United States of America did Terri Marie Schiavo receive mercy. Even when one
death penalty prisoner was given a stay of execution last week, the highest
court in the land dismissed her appeals to have her feeding tube reinstalled.
"Throughout this incredible ordeal, Terri was treated more like a convicted
death penalty case than for who she was - an innocent woman who fell victim to
some illness that caused brain damage" said Eckstein. Terri was denied therapy
and access to some of the newer medical advances that may have helped her to
recover. "Seeing her - one always had a strong sense she was determined to
live," quipped Eckstein. For years, Terri's guardian, her estranged husband
Michael Schiavo, sought the only way to he could legally hope to kill her.
Cheryl Eckstein stressed that "Terri was so healthy the only way to make her die
was to starve and dehydrate this incredible woman." "There is not a single
written record of Terri saying what Michael Schiavo says she said .... this is
the saddest most unconceivable aberration of "she said he said," that has
tragically resulted in the slow murder of a woman who proved to the world she
wanted to live, added Eckstein
Mrs Eckstein stated: "On behalf of our organization and Terri's supporter's
throughout Canada, we wish to send our prayers to the Schindlers and their
family. No mother or father put up a better fight to save their beloved
daughter than they. For 15 years they never gave up hope nor their fight to
save their beloved Terri."
